The PhotonHub Europe project, a pan-European center for digital innovation in photonics, launched in 2021 with a €19 million investment under the Horizon 2020 programme.
Coordinated by Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), the project aims to help European SMEs and mid-sized companies become more competitive through the rapid deployment of photonics-based technologies.
PhotonHub Europe brings together 53 leading competence centers across Europe to create a unique innovation hub, a one-stop-shop providing access to cutting-edge photonics technologies, facilities, and expertise.
UJM contribution
The Hubert Curien Laboratory at Université Jean Monnet plays an active role in the project’s research and development activities.

- NanoSaintEtienne clean room
- Photonic optics and microwave research teams
In addition, Université Jean Monnet contributes to training activities through the University Research School MANUTECH SLEIGHT, funded under the French PIA3 Future Investment Plan.
