This section outlines the eligibility criteria and admission requirements for the RADMEP+ programme. Applicants are invited to carefully review the academic prerequisites, language requirements and application procedures before submitting their application.

Who can apply?

Profile and academic background

We are looking for brilliant minds trained in microelectronics, photonics and physics.

Academic prerequisites
  • Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science (or any nationally recognized first-cycle degree equivalent to 180 ECTS), preferably in microelectronics, photonics and physics.
  • This condition must be fulfilled at the time of enrollment; however, applications are accepted from students in the final year of their degree.
  • Applicants must possess a solid academic background in physics, photonics, semiconductor physics and microelectronics.

Application requirements

Documents, deadlines and English level

Administrative process
  • Compliance with the application process calendar and deadlines.
  • Application files must be authentic, complete, certified (scan of original document or certified translation), and translated into English where required.

Language requirements
  • The tuition language is English.
  • Students are expected to produce a Master Thesis in English.
  • A strong command of written and oral English is required.
  • Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency equivalent to CEFR level B2.
  • English level will be assessed through test scores, the cover letter and the interview.

Admission criteria
  • Joining RADMEP+ is an extremely competitive process.
  • Only the best applicants will be selected.
  • The method and criteria used to assess applications are detailed in the selection process.

Adequate financial resources
  • Applicants must be aware of programme costs and living costs in host countries.
  • Scholarships may cover most students, but self-funded students must provide proof of full financial support before enrollment.
  • This guarantee ensures sufficient funds for the entire study period.
  • Applicants must document their sources of income for visa purposes.

Equal access and special needs

Inclusion, accessibility and support

Equal access
  • No discrimination based on nationality, gender, age, religion or health conditions.
  • The programme supports equity for women in science, including those facing barriers such as childcare responsibilities.

Special needs support
  • Support is available for students with long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments.
  • Funding may cover assistance (third persons), workplace adaptation, or additional travel and transportation costs.
  • This applies to all enrolled students, both scholarship holders and self-funded students.

Eligibility conditions
  • Must be an enrolled student.
  • Must have a certified long-term disability.
  • The condition must require specific support to participate in the programme.
  • Certification must be provided by a competent authority.

Application procedure
  • Applicants must submit a supplementary statement describing required adaptations or services.
  • A professional certificate (doctor, specialist, etc.) confirming the condition is mandatory.
  • Applications are treated confidentially.
  • Funding decisions are made by the host university and may not cover all costs but can cover a substantial part.

Additional information

Important administrative notes

  • Applicants admitted to the programme must confirm their admission via the Studyinfo portal.
  • According to Finnish regulations, only one programme can be accepted per academic year.
  • Applicants admitted to multiple Finnish programmes must choose carefully before confirming.
